Job Description:

The Chicago Office is seeking an Electrical Engineer in the growing MEP department at Knight that presents an opportunity for personal growth and advancement. This individual will collaborate with the MEP, Architectural and Civil engineering staff as well as project clients to help Knight provide industry leading professional services and cost effective designs. You will be asked to conduct project engineering and engage in project management for power, signal and lighting design on variety of project assignments including but not limited to private, public and institutional sector projects for new construction and renovation for low-, mid-, and high-rise buildings, as well as transportation sector projects including roads and bridges.

Electrical Engineer Job Duties:

  • Design power, signal and lighting systems in accordance with most recent versions of applicable codes and standards.

  • Prepare bid and construction drawings including demand load calculation, panel schedules, lighting and power plans, lighting control diagram, etc., using AUTOCAD. Experience with Revit and MEP engineering is a plus.

  • Assist in specification preparation for drawing specification sheets and booklet specifications using Master Spec and proprietary modifications

  • Work directly with General Contractors, Architects, Utility Consultants, Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers and MEP team to produce finished drawings.

  • Work directly with Building Department officials as may be required for plan approval or variance requests.

  • Maintain proficiency with and identify and understand applicable codes and standards including modifications by local AHJ.

Experience and Skills:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

  • Bachelors in Engineering required

  • 5 years relevant industry experience

  • Strong technical, creative/design performance, communication, team-work, presentation, and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD required. Experience with Revit preferred.
