The Chicago Office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 3-5 years of industry experience to join the growing MEP department at Knight that presents an opportunity for personal growth and advancement. This individual will collaborate with the MEP, Architectural and Civil engineering staff as well as project clients to help Knight provide industry leading professional services and cost effective designs.

You will be asked to conduct electrical engineering drafting, design and coordination activities, utilizing your recent experience and guidance from senior engineering team members for power, signal and lighting design. These efforts will be conducted on variety of project assignments including but not limited to private, public and institutional sector projects for renovation and new construction for low-, mid-, and high-rise buildings, as well as transportation sector projects including lighting and power/signal distribution for roads and bridges.

Electrical Engineer Job Duties:

  • Design power, signal and lighting systems in accordance with most recent versions of applicable codes and standards.

  • Prepare bid and construction drawings including demand load calculation, panel schedules, lighting and power plans, lighting control diagram, etc., using AUTOCAD. Experience with Revit considered important but not a requirement.

  • Assist in specification preparation for drawing specification sheets and booklet specifications using Master Spec and proprietary modifications.

  • Work directly and coordinate with General Contractors, Architects, Utility Consultants, Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers and MEP team to produce finished drawings.

  • Work directly with Building Department officials as may be required for plan approval or variance requests.

  • Identify and understand applicable codes and standards as may be required including modifications by local AHJ.

Experience and Skills:

  • Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) required as well as progress toward Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Bachelors in Engineering required

  • Strong technical, communication, team-work and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required. Experience with Revit strongly preferred
